July 14: Severe weather ruined my plans! I was going to go to the drive-in tonight, but instead watched a few movies at a friend's house.

July 15: I was going to go to the old farm place and 4-wheel, etc. But - that would have been a sad thing for me to remember it empty. So, I watched Cops and took a 12 hour nap!

July 16: HAPPY 35th BIRTHDAY to my daughter, Erin!! Today's pre-adventure will be giving the dogs a bath, cleaning, finishing up last minute stuff for tomorrow!

July 17: HAPPY 31st BIRTHDAY to my son, Gregory! Oklahoma City, here I come!! Let's get this thing started :)

... let the real adventures begin!

My house is in a complete uproar and disaster with finishing up getting everything shipped to my new location. I will be shipping out the last of my 18x18x24 boxes today. I am sure the post office will be happy when I'm finished! The only thing I will have with me for my 4 flights is a backpack of a few day's clothes, dog food, kindle, phone and laptop (only because I don't want to risk shipping it), and Ginger and Chloe. Everything else will have been shipped or already at the post office in Togiak waiting for me to pick it all up.

Saturday, the 18th, I will have a yard sale with all the stuff I didn't find important enough to ship to myself. I can make a few extra dollars and let someone else haul the items away for me :) Anything left over will be taken to Goodwill.

The next 32 days will be very busy!

  • I need to finish getting yard sale stuff ready and have the yard sale in 100+ degree temp
  • Chloe goes to get fixedNchipped
  • Ginger has a vet appointment for annual shots
  • I have a doctor appointment for physical
  • I have a dentist appointment for a cleaning
  • I am going to go hang out with my daughter, Erin, for a day (She lives about 2 hours east of me)
  • I need to pick up a year supply of my only medication I take (My pharmacy rocks)

Since I don't have a photo to share with you, I'll show you my adorable grandbaby! This grandma is blessed :)

    .... until next time

Thanks for stopping by again! I want to give a little bit of information about what school and life is like for my students...

My students live in a extremely rural Alaskan bush village. My students live in dual-language homes of English and Yupik Eskimo. Our weather is extreme to say the least. Life opportunities beyond the tundra are limited.

The neighborhood my students (and myself) live in does not have any activity options such as stores, movies, skate rinks, malls, playgrounds, parks, and etc.

There are no banks, doctors, dentists, vets or other services that are taken for extreme granted. There are no roads in or out of Togiak, there is no way in or out of the village other than a bush plane.

My students deserve and need the same educational tools available to other schools. Unfortunately, resources and money is limited and I am asking - no, begging - for you to help these kids any way that you can. Their needs are not large at all - they need simple supplies such as notebooks, folders, construction paper, and anything else you would typically find in a K/1st classroom. Their needs are so small that any amount, even a dollar, will add up and help me support their needs.

I have one project left that will need funded. I've had the most amazing person ever support my classroom - her kindness has been overwhelming and humbling. THIS LINK takes you to the project description.

43 more days before my adventure begins - not that I'm counting or anything! :)
